Welcome to the website of

zinc designs

Freelance graphic and web designer.

My name is Zena Walczynska and I’m based in Edinburgh, but as distance isn’t an issue these days, it doesn’t really matter where you are if you’ve got a project for me. I provide an affordable design service with professional, striking results to help get your business noticed.

I really enjoy what I do and especially giving clients exciting and effective solutions. You know your business and your customers better than I do, so I would work closely with you to create designs that you would be proud to present.

I’ve always been passionate about design, especially typography, and because I’ve been in the industry for over 20 years, you will get the very best service that only comes with that experience. I’ve worked on a diverse range of projects and if you want to see some of the more recent ones, just go to my work page below and have a look around.

If you are after something that’s not covered here or if you feel your project may differ from the norm, simply pop in your details on the contact form below and I will be in touch shortly.

I’ll look forward to hearing from you.

How I became a freelance graphic and web designer

I started my design career in 1995 in a small design agency called Creative Box in Alloa, where I learned many of the skills that I still use today. The computers have much bigger hard drives now, but my attitude is still the same. Creative Box set me on my design path and made me really passionate about what I do.

In 1998, I moved on to Citigate where I was Senior Designer for 2 years and was involved with clients such as Bausch & Lomb, Scottish & Newcastle, EICC, Edinburgh Park and Edinburgh Zoo, before moving on to 20/20 Productions in 2000 where I had a broad range of responsibilities including studio management, graphic design, design budgets and schedules, client liaison, print management, multimedia and stage set design.

In 2005 I left 20/20 Productions to travel round New Zealand and on my return freelanced for the design department of Prudential in Stirling, One O’clock Gun design consultants in Edinburgh and the Merle Agency in Glasgow, where I had the privilege to work on accounts such as Dobbies, Highland Spring, Rettie & Co and Robert Wiseman Dairies.

During this time I started taking on my own clients, so here I am, zinc designs, with a wonderful bunch of customers. It would be great if you were one of them, so get in touch via the contact page or call me on the number below.
